Salary: £33,855 £35,699 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Location: Based in Bristol, Gloucester, London, or Oxford but travel across Brandon Trust required.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential due to regular travel and occasional overnight stays.

About the Role

Brandon Trust is looking for an experienced and values-driven Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role plays a key part in embedding high-quality, evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support and Positive Behaviour Management across our services for adults and children.

Applicants will be preferably qualified PRT / PBM Trainers or willing to work towards completing a Train the Trainer programme.

The purpose of this role is to facilitate and deliver PBS and PBM training, while providing specialist advice, guidance, and practice leadership to teams supporting people who communicate through their behaviour. The role involves travel across Brandon Trust services, supporting practice development in a range of settings.

Key Responsibilities
Positive Behaviour Support & Training Delivery
  • Deliver PRT / PBM training (adult and child packages), maintaining annual re-accreditation standards
  • Teach PBM theory, including understanding behaviour, reducing restrictive practices, safeguarding, post-incident support, and accurate reporting
  • Provide specialist coaching and role-modelling to embed best practice in responses to behaviours of concern
  • Co-deliver training with colleagues and participate in peer standardisation activities
  • Develop and facilitate bespoke PBS-related training (e.g. Active Support, attribution theory, structured debriefs)
Assessment & Behaviour Support Planning
  • Collate, analyse, and interpret behavioural data
  • Complete functional assessments and share clear, evidence-based recommendations
  • Develop, review, and coach teams in implementing behaviour support plans
  • Evaluate outcomes and present behavioural data clearly and accurately
  • Promote STOMP and least-restrictive practice principles
  • Provide reflective practice, wellbeing support, and structured debriefs in complex situations
Collaboration & Practice Leadership
  • Work closely with the PBS Lead, Quality Team, Learning & Development, operational teams, and external professionals
  • Deliver post-incident debriefs in line with training and organisational expectations
  • Challenge poor practice constructively and promote positive, person-centred team cultures
  • Maintain compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality, and organisational policies
Essential Criteria
  • Significant experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism who communicate through their behaviour
  • Experience delivering training to staff teams
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
  • Level 4 or above qualification in PBS, Psychology, ABA, or a related field
  • Experience applying PBS in practice
  • Experience supervising or managing staff or services
  • Level 3 teaching qualification
