Reporting to: BRS Team Leader/Senior Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach
Broad purpose of the post
Looking for a role that makes a difference? We have an opportunity to join our Bespoke Repatriation Service as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach.
An alternative to traditional models of care BRS supports patients throughout Gwent to transition from secure or residential settings into a community setting with their own tenancy.
As a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach, you will support your Team Leader and the Senior Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach in delivery of a 24/7 support service. You will work with the Intensive Case Management Team and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to provide a responsive and tailored service to users, and develop support plans which are underpinned by the principles of Structured Clinical Management (SCM).
We are looking for a skilled problem solver with experience in crisis planning who can take a goal-focused and supportive approach to effectively manage mental health difficulties and advocate for service users. Training in SCM and ongoing support/supervision will be provided.
Fixed Term Contract until August 2027, full-time (37.5 hours)
£30018.46 per annum

Key Accountabilities
Practical support including but not limited to; supporting individuals in Care and Treatment Plan reviews, medical appointments, community activities, assisting with emotional regulation, problem solving, relationship building and developing daily living skills like money management, tenancy management, diet and nutrition and developing purposeful activities
Ensuring service users have choice and control in the delivery of their support and that they are equal partners in developing the service
Engagement in reflective practice, supervisions and team meetings, ensuring continuous improvement is achieved. Actively promoting the standards underpinned by a Psychologically Informed Environment in all aspects of service delivery and support
Updating daily records, incident reports, and escalating safeguarding issues as needed to Team Leader / Intensive care team
Taking regular measurements and resident feedback, enabling service review and improvements as needed. Providing feedback for quarterly / monthly reporting.
Personal Requirements
Essential
Experience in a front-line support of service users, potentially covering a large geographical area (Gwent) Support will be available 24/7. You will be one of a large team working on a six-week rolling rota basis. Shifts will include days/ weekend/evening /nights. Therefore, flexibility as evening/ weekend/night shift working will be required.
A full driving licence and an ability to travel across Gwent and inpatient settings further afield.
Able to react quickly and positively to the service users individual needs. You will be proactive, consistent, flexible and focused on enabling them to thrive within a new environment and surrounding relationships.
An ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships with those people who use the service. You will understand the value of setting boundaries and expectations and be able to do so whilst modelling positive relationships.
A high level of emotional intelligence; to be non-judgmental, resilient and empathic, communicating confidently
Experience of working with individuals with complex mental health difficulties and / or challenging behaviour.
You will be able to work under your own initiative and be responsive to changing priorities.
Desirable
Understanding of PIE, ACEs, strength / restorative based approaches.
Experience of representing / advocating needs of service users
A willingness to reflect positively on feedback with a desire to further personal learning
A good understanding of the wide range of community and third sector organisations operating across Gwent
Welsh language skills
